Description:
In a course that is close to reaching the maximum storage quota, when an instructor uploads a file which exceeds that quota, the file is uploaded successfully (for example under an assignment) and it is visible for all users. However, students are unable to access it. When trying so, they get an 'Access Denied' error.
Steps to Repeat:
- Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an administrator
- Set the course size limit to 200MB
- Navigate to the System Admin panel> Courses > Create Course> New
- Provide a Name and ID (for example "quota_new") for the new course and set Available to 'Yes', leave the Course view option set to Ultra Course View, then Submit
- Hover over the newly created Course ID and click the drop down menu which will appear next to the Course ID itself, then select Quotas
- The course should show it a has quota of 0 MB out of 200 MB
- Go back to Courses and access the course created in Step 3
- Click on the "plus" sign at the top and select Create > Document> Upload from Computer
- At this point upload as many files from your computer, so that you can almost reach the course quota (which is 200 MB)
- Repeat Step 4 and check whether the quota is indeed close to 200 MB (for example 198 MB of 200 MB)
- Go back inside the course and Click on the "plus" sign at the top > Create > Assignment (under 'Assessments')
- Give the Assignment a Name, then, at the top right corner click on the dropdown menu Hidden from students and change it to Visible to students
- Click on the "plus" sign at the center (under Use this space to build your assignment). Then add a local file.
- Upload a file which surely will exceed the course quota
- Click on Save
Observed Behavior:
An error appears: "Oops! Something went wrong".
- Reload the page
- Close the assignment (top left corner of the screen)
Observed Behavior:A pop-up message appears: "Close without saving? You tried to close this panel, but it contains unsaved work. Do you want to continue?"
- Click on Close
- Go back to the same assignment
- Notice how the file you uploaded shows under the course content
- Log in as a student (already enrolled in the course you created above)
- Go to Courses > Access the above course > Open the assignment from Step 11 > Click on View Submission
- Under the Assignment Content section, click on one of the two files (previously uploaded by an Instructor/Admin)
Observed Behavior:
An Access Denied error is displayed:
