Cannot Access Attached Files in Original Courses on Android Devices

Description:

On Android devices using the Blackboard App, some students and instructors cannot access or download files attached to Word or PDF documents. Instead, an error message is displayed: Offline: Content may be out of date. 

Steps to Repeat:
  1. Log into Blackboard Learn as an administrator
  2. Create an Ultra and Original course 
  3. In a Content Area create a document (Ultra) or an item/file content item (Original) and attach a file (PDF or Word Document) to the content
  4. Enroll a student and ensure the course and content is available 
  5. Log in as the student on a PC and access all the content created above 


Observed Behavior: Content is accessible and files throw no errors. 
 
  1. Log in as the student on the App using an iOS device 
  2. Navigate to the courses and the content created above and access all attached files 

Observed Behavior: Content is accessible and files throw no errors. 
  1. Log out of all devices and using an Android device, log in as the student in the App 
  2. Access the Ultra course and try to access the files 
Observed Behavior: Content is accessible and files throw no errors. 
  1. Navigate to the Original course and attempt to access and view the files 


Observed Behavior:
The files do not render and the following message is displayed on top of the screen: 

Offline: Content may be our of date. 


Expected Behavior: 
The files render. 

 




Information:

This issue does not happen on iOS devices or on the Desktop version. 
Only Original courses are affected.
