In Ultra Courses the Email Reminders for Gradable Items are not Sending the Emails When Release Condition is Set

Date Published: Apr 11,2025

CategoryPlanned First Fix Release:3900.98.0 Release; Product:Blackboard Learn SaaS; Version:Ultra
Article No.: 000078131
Product:
Learn SaaS
Release:
SaaS
Service Pack(s):
Ultra
Description:
In Ultra courses, the Send Reminder gradebook tool does not send the email for gradable items with Release Conditions set (Date/Time or Performance).

Steps to Repeat:

  1. Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an administrator
  2. Navigate to System Admin > Courses and create a new Ultra Course
  3. Navigate to System Admin > Users and create a new user with a valid email address
  4. Enroll the user in the newly created course
  5. Access the course and create a Gradable Item (Test, Assignments, or LTI item)
  6. Set the Release Conditions and the Due Date for the created item
  7. Go to the Gradebook > Click the icon of the item column > Send reminder > Send

Observed Behavior:
The error "Your reminder could not be sent as there are release conditions against this item." is shown

Expected Behavior:
The email reminder is sent without issue.

Information:

  • When manually removing the Release Conditions from a regular Test or Assignment, the notification is sent from Learn, but if the release condition is removed from an LTI item, the error still appears.

  • If the LTI item was created initially without Release Conditions, the notification is sent, but, if the Release Condition is set and then, later removed (the item was set again to "Visible to students"), the error still shows up even though there are no Release Conditions.

Issue not present in Original Courses.

Target Release:

SaaS-Fixed (v3900.98.0)
