Article No.: 000077387
Product:
Learn SaaS
Release:
SaaS
Service Pack(s):
Ultra
Description:
In Original view courses, students are able to access files which are linked to HTML files in the Course Contents, as long as the linked files follow the file structure detailed in Article #75052.

In Ultra Courses however, students are not able to access those linked files and those files will not transfer during the Course Copy process.
Steps to Repeat:
Prerequisites:
  • Create a folder on your local Computer and add a sub-folder to it.
  • Put an image file or css file into the sub-folder and return to the parent folder.
  • Create an HTML file within the Parent folder which references to the image or css file. Make sure that they load correctly from your local storage.
  • Compress the entire parent-folder and its contents into a .zip file

  1. Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an administrator
  2. Create a new Ultra View Course and enroll a student user in the course
  3. Access the course and create a folder in the Course Content area
  4. Go into the Content Folder, click the '+' button and go to the Content Collection
  5. Use the Upload Zip Package option to upload your newly created zip file
  6. Once the contents of the zip file have unpacked within the course, select your HTML file and add it to the Course's Contents
    • Note that you will not be presented an option to choose how the linked files are handled.
  7. Make sure the HTML file is accessible to students and then click on it to verify that you are able to see the linked image or the applied css styles as an administrator user
  8. Open a new browser or session and log into the course as the student
  9. Open the HTML file

Observed Behavior: The HTML files text content is accessible but any linked images or stylesheets are broken.

Expected Behavior: The linked files would work correctly since you have permissions to access to the HTML file.

  1. Return to the Administrator Session or Browser and export the Ultra Course
  2. Make sure to select these options regarding the Course Files:
    • Copy links and include copies of the files in the course default directory
    • Copy links and include copies of the files outside of the course default directory
    • Select everything from the Course
    • Use the Manage Content button. Specifically select the Parent Folder for the HTML content.
  3. Import the Zip package as a new Course and then check the Content Collection system to view its folders

Observed Behavior:
The sub-folder and linked files did not copy over; only the HTML files that were used transferred over.

Expected Behavior:
The sub-folder and linked files would have copied over, keeping their original file structure.
