Descripción:
Certain test attempts appear as 'Needs grading' in the gradable items list, while they are marked as 'posted' in the attempt itself. Consequently, the instructor is unable to update the attempt to reflect a graded status without resorting to an Override.
This issue arises in a specific scenario: when an attempt is first assigned an Automatic Zero and subsequently submitted. In this case, although the grade is shown as posted due to the automatic zero, the actual score for the attempt is not displayed. This leaves the instructor without the option to post the new grade. The issue persists regardless of whether the view is set to complete/incomplete or as points or percentage.
Pasos para repetir:
- Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an administrator
- Create an Ultra Course and access it
- Navigate to the Gradebook > Set to 'Assign automatic zeros for past due work'
- Add a simple assessment to the Content Area. Make it an Fill in the Blank or True/False question test, anything that would be auto-graded. Set the due date in the past. Also set the grading to 'Post grades manually when assessment is graded.'
- Enroll a student or use the Student Preview
- As the student, take the test noting that there is a current grade of 0/2 due the auto-zeros getting assigned because due date passed. Ensure the student answers questions correct to see the differences in the grade pills.
- Submit the test
- As the instructor go to the Gradebook
- Navigate to Gradable Items > Click on the test > Submissions Tab
Observed Behavior: For the student the grade shows as 0/2 with automatic zero and it shows as Posted.
- Click on the student to go to the actual attempt
Observed Behavior: In the attempt the grade is showing as 2/2 (this is the submitted grade not the auto-zero) and is posted but in the Gradebook, the grade is showing as auto-zero still and 'Needs Grading'.
- As the student go to the Gradebook to confirm that the grade still shows 0/2 as auto-zero
- As the instructor go back to the attempt and try to post the actual submission from there or from the Gradebook Listing of the attempt.
Observed Behavior:
There is no 'Post' button so the instructor cannot manually post the attempt grade.
Expected Behavior:
There is a 'Post' button, so the instructor can add the actual attempt grade.
Resolución/Solución alternativa:
Activate the 'Post grades automatically' feature.
