Descripción: When the user migrates enrollments to a course, its child courses become unavailable. However, if an instructor has saved a bookmark in their browser or accesses the course via a direct link, the child course is still accessible. No warning banner is displayed, which can lead to the instructor to unintentionally make changes in the child course.
If the child course uses the Original Course View, a warning banner appears, informing the instructor that it is a child course and that any changes should be made in the parent course.
Pasos para repetir:
- Log into Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience as an administrator
- Create two courses: one using Original Course View and another using Ultra Course View
- Enroll a user as an instructor in both courses
- Log in as the instructor and save a bookmark for each course in the browser, or save the URLs in a note
- Log in as an administrator
- Go to Courses > Merge Enrollments
- Create a new parent course and add the two previously created courses as child courses
- Log in again as the instructor
The child courses will no longer appear in the course list, but since bookmarks were saved, both courses are still accessible.(The article does not mention any restriction on editing child courses, so this is expected).
- Click the bookmark for the course that uses the Original Course View
A banner appears on top, stating: "Unavailable child course: Students will not see changes made to this course. Please work in the parent course."
- Click on the bookmark for the Ultra Course View course
Observed Behavior:
The instructor can access the child course, but no warning is shown to indicate that changes should be made in the parent course.
Expected Behavior:
The system should either redirect the instructor to the parent course or display a warning banner, similar to the one in the Original Course View, advising that changes should be made in the parent course, as it is show in Original View.
